I’m often asked how I would treat various health conditions. My approach to wellness is simple, and I call it the 3MG Protocol—a comprehensive method that focuses on four pillars essential for optimal well-being: Methylation, Metabolic Health, Mitochondria, and Gut Health. This method targets the root causes that impact the body’s ability to produce energy, detoxify, and function at its best, offering a comprehensive approach to addressing chronic conditions and enhancing overall wellness.
What is Methylation?
Methylation plays a key role in gene expression, inflammation regulation, and detoxification, influencing everything from immune function to hormone balance. Proper methylation relies on nutrients like folate, B12, and methylated B-vitamins. When impaired, it can lead to chronic issues such as fatigue, anxiety, panic attacks, OCD, anger, irritability, insomnia, cognitive decline, and autoimmune conditions.
Improving Metabolic Health
Metabolic health is essential for managing the energy your body derives from food. Up to 80% of chronic health conditions are metabolic in nature or influenced by metabolic processes, including cardiovascular disease, diabetes, obesity, fatty liver disease, metabolic syndrome and cancer. Imbalances in metabolism can contribute to these conditions. A balanced diet, regular exercise, weight loss and stress reduction are key to improving metabolism, enhancing insulin sensitivity, and regulating blood sugar levels.
What do Mitochondria do?
Mitochondria are the energy powerhouses of your cells, are responsible for energy (ATP) production. As we age, mitochondrial function declines, leading to reduced energy and recovery. Supporting mitochondrial health through strategies like intermittent fasting, exercise, IV ozone therapy, antioxidants, and nutrients such as CoQ10, magnesium, alpha -lipoic acid, and acetyl-L-carnitine can enhance efficiency and help combat the effects of aging.
Gut Health and Well-Being
Gut health is vital for digestion, immune function, and nutrient absorption, with approximately 70-80% of your immune system located in the gut. An imbalanced gut microbiome can lead to inflammation, malabsorption, and digestive problems. Maintaining a healthy gut microbiome is essential for regulating immune responses and preventing excessive inflammation or autoimmunity. Rebalancing gut health, improving diet, and reducing stress are key factors in supporting overall well-being.
By optimizing these interconnected systems—methylation, metabolism, mitochondria, and gut health—you can increase energy, reduce inflammation, and promote longevity. A nutrient-dense diet, regular exercise, and stress management form the foundation for a healthier, more vibrant life. The 3MG Protocol offers a targeted approach to creating lasting vitality and wellness.
