Homeopathy has long been controversial in the western world. Recently, however, there has been some good press for this holistic practice of medicine. The University of California at Irvine recently announced that it will be opening the Susan and Henry Samueli College of Health Sciences. This school will be the first one of its kind in the United States putting an emphasis on a multidisciplinary approach to medicine. Susan and Henry Samueli both have backgrounds in Homeopathy and alternative medicine- Susan Samueli being trained as a Homeopathic Physician. While it is not clear how much of the school will be devoted to the study of Homeopathic medicine, it is a step in the right direction for alternative medicine as a whole.
In addition to the new school opening in Irvine, there is a new documentary in theatres about the controversial nature of Homeopathy. This film entitled, Just One Drop: The Story Behind the Homeopathy Controversy, uncovers the truth about what has been said in the media. It takes a closer look at studies conducted, myths told, and cases of individuals who have seen their lives change for the good after seeing a Homeopath. Perhaps a shift toward the inclusion of alternative medicine in the western world is about to begin.
