Regulating Acupuncture Therapy with Local Anesthetics: Treating the Nervous System

Acupuncture, in itself, is an effective way to promote healing within the body. Placed strategically, an acupuncture needle can effect a response that causes the body to heal itself. Now imagine placing a powerful injection into the acupuncture site. Just as a torpedo can break a smaller ship in half, an injection into an acupuncture site can certainly dismantle dis-ease within the body. Here at Renaissance Health Centre we can do this as we use procaine injected into acupuncture sites. Some have heard of the more popular terms being used to identify this therapy; neural therapy, prolozone injections, and acupoint injection therapy.

How Does Injection Therapy Work?

Local anesthetics, like procaine used in acupoint injection therapy, change the body’s cellular environment that helps to block pain and the aggravating sensations of the targeted area. Procaine provides stimulus to the nervous system which responds by releasing a healing reaction in the body. This therapy became renewed in understanding and more common in use in the 1960’s.

What Is Neural Therapy Used to Treat?

You might ask, “What can be treated with acupoint injection therapy?” We can treat scar tissue, acute menstrual pain, muscle pain, a pinched nerve, even phantom pain, and more!

A woman suffering from sequelae of shingles for a handful of years came to the office hoping for relief. The itching in her flank would not stop! After itching for over three years and only one acupuncture therapy session along with acupoint injection therapy her itching stopped.

A busy mother battling autoimmune disease had hip and lower back pain as well. She simply wanted a break from the tension in her lower back. After the second injection therapy session she went on a long walk and felt her hips and lower back completely release the tension it was holding.

One woman on the brink of starting her period, was having lower uterine cramping. She had an injection into a popular menstrual cycle acupoint and she described the sensation as follows: “It felt like my body just woke up. I felt a rush in the movement of my blood and immediately the cramp settled and I had no more pain.”

Simply adding procaine injection to the acupuncture treatment can add such a tremendous benefit to heal the body.
