Most clinical trials have demonstrated that enteric-coated peppermint oil is modestly effective in reducing some of the common symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). In combination with caraway oil, it also shows promise in treating non-ulcer dyspepsia.
Topical peppermint oil can also be helpful in treating tension headaches. The recommended dosage range is 0.2 to 0.l4ml of peppermint oil taken three times daily in enteric coated capsules. For dyspepsia use 90 mg of peppermint oil in combination with 50mg of caraway oil.
