It is not uncommon for young boys- just before they reach the age of puberty to begin to experience enlargement of the breasts. This is a medical condition know as gynecomastia usually results from an imbalance in the female to male hormones.
As a result of some detective work one physician was able to determine that products containing lavender or tea tree oil( shampoos, lotions, soaps or hair gels) were the culprits. It turns out that these two herbal products have estrogenic activity. These products can have the same effect in young girls cause early breast development. Within two months of stopping their use the gynecomastia disappeared.
