Lavender and tea tree oils found in soap, skin lotion, shampoos or styling products have been shown to cause enlarged breast tissue in boys aged 4, 7 and 10 years. On avoiding the products for 3 months, the symptoms subsided. Further experiments in laboratory setting demonstrated that the oils mimic the effects of estrogen.
