Once a month I receive the Prescriber’s Lette,r a 4 page unbiased letter that updates physicians on the latest drugs hitting the market. Today I came across an article in this letter that talked about people using a new diabetes drug, Byetta for weight loss. Apparently, in addition to reducing sugar it also decreases appetite and slows the stomach emptying.
But what I found more interesting was it is often referred to as the “Gilly” or “Lizzie” because it is derived from Gila monster or lizard saliva. There are quite a few homeopathic remedies made from different snake venom which often times can lead to dramatic cures. Like many so called “primitive societies” have known for centuries mother nature offers the best cures for our problems. It is just a matter of rediscovering them.
