There has been a recent spat of article in the lay press and medical journals questioning the efficacy of anti-depressants. In a new analysis of multiple clinical trials by the FDA it was determined that drugs such as Prozac did not provide significantly more relief to depressed patients than did placebo pills. Psychologist Irving Kirsch of the University of Hull, England stated, There is little evidence to support the prescription of antidepressant medication to any but the most severely depressed patients, unless alternative treatments with fewer side effects have failed to provide benefit. Over the 20 plus year that I have been practicing homeopathy it is rare that constitutional homeopathic treatment does not provide not only relief but cure from depression. I think the time will come when treatment of all chronic illnesses with prescription medication will be the last option tried not the first. The next several entries give examples of the comprehensive nature of the cure when the root cause of depression is addressed.
