Homeopathy Today recently ran an interesting article in which they stated 11 American Presidents have used, supported or advocated for homeopathy. Warren Harding, the 29th President of the United States had parents who studied and practiced homeopathic medicine. His wife, Florence, had a kidney removed in 1905. She relied on Dr. Charles Sawyer, a respected Ohio homeopath for her care. As the article continues, The Hardings insisted that Sawyer become the White House physician. In 1922, Florence developed a critical urinary tract illness in her remaining kidney. Two famous conventional physicians, Charles Mayo and John Finney, were called to the White House and wanted to operate immediately. Dr. Sawyer disagreed. Mrs. Harding ultimately recovered without surgery, and yet, the conventional physicians asserted that homeopathic medicines had had no effect and that Mrs. Harding’s condition simple healed spontaneously.
