Over half a century ago a well-known researcher Hans Selye conducted an experiment to test the benefits of exercise in relationship to stress. In his experiment, he had 10 untrained rats, and 10 rats that were trained to use the treadmill. Both groups of rats were stressed by exposing them to light, noise, and shocks for 4 weeks. What he found at the end of four weeks was all the untrained rats were dead from the negative effect of the stress. Whereas all of the 10 trained rats were still alive
Most of us experience stress to some degree every day. Over time, this stress takes it toll on our health and will determine how long we will live. One of the best and easiest ways to negate the negative effect of stress is exercise.
